As a new photographer around Hy-Tekk I wasn’t sure what to expect at these shows, but I have yet to leave one anything less than elated. WE HAD A BLAST! Just another baller night at the Granada in great company with great music.
Last Saturday TheBeatMill released a very special mix brought to you by CHOOKY.
It was so banging that today TheBeatMill has another exclusive for you from Chooky.
The Washington D.C. area native, drops some serious bangers with the release of his newest “I Got No Strings” EP. The four track EP samples what we would call some of our favorite childhood Disney movies using samples blended with dubstep, electro, and hip-hop.
” Starting his musical career as a drummer at the age of 6 and quickly moving into the studio as a producer and engineer, Chooky has proven himself fit to explore most any musical landscape.
As an accomplished musical engineer with 5+ years of producing for local artists, Chooky began mixing and producing tracks for shows that he was headlining himself. His tracks are dance-inspiring, drawing influence from his experience in hip-hop and his love for old classic rock legends. It was the raw d&b sounds of Pendulum that first captured his attention, sparking his widening appreciation for EDM. It is artists such as Knife Party, Bassnectar, Feed Me, Rusko, and Flux Pavillion that continue to fuel inspiration for his compositions.
In early 2012, Chooky released his first EP, ‘What Will The Children Think’ which caught the attention of Brooklyn-based music label, Subdrive. His two tracks, “The Score” and “Sour Nectar” were re-released on Subdrive in late March and received support from Dubstep.net.
Making a name for himself in his native Washington DC, Chooky has headlined at various venues. The 23 year old recently played at the Get Loud Music Festival, where he spun alongside Mord Fustang and Figure. Gaining massive attention, Chooky was asked to remix Mr. Vega of Sazon Booya’s track, “Ape Shit.” Chooky also composed a remix for Jupiter Ace’s “Glowing in the Dark” which is set to be released from the iconic Strictly Rhythm this summer.
2012 has so far been a promising year for this up-and-comer. With upcoming Subdrive releases set to come forth this summer and an explosive, high-energy live set, Chooky maintains a distinctive style all his own while incorporating sounds across the board.” -Facebook Bio
