Happy Birthday Jim Henson!!!
Jim would have been 77 today. He died in 1990 from a bacterial infection. So let’s all give him a big ol’ HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Mr. Henson was a one of a kind artist. From acting, music, documentaries, etc. He was always pushing the boundaries in whatever sparked his imagination. Including “The Cube”.
The Cube, saw Henson dip further into experimental film making. Scripted in 1966 with his lifelong writing partner Jerry Juhl and produced in 1969. Also, there is Time Piece. Time Piece showcases Henson’s burgeoning expertise in conveying emotions and thought processes through incongruous images and strong sound effects.
Now, for a unique sample of the artistic mind of Jim Henson. Cyclia was the name of the night club Jim Henson designed from 1967-1970. It was claimed to be “the club of the future”. The Club was designed, but never put into production. He posted some of the sketches in his book The Works.
Now, dig up all the old toys and books. And let your imagination fly. Happy Birthday Jim
