DYNAMIX
Dynamix, born Jamison Johnson, has always had an ear for good music. First touching a piano at a young age, his adventure has taken him across many instruments and genres searching for his artistic place in the world of music. After graduating high school, he began a venture into the hip hop world under the artist name Illegit. He spent almost eight years producing and recording hip hop, and ended up building an mainstream image for himself he was not entirely satisfied with. In attempting to transition to the electronic music world, in 2009 he presented the idea of recording rap lyrics over dubstep to a few record labels, and was met with skepticism, and ultimately laughed at for the concept of blending two entirely different music scenes. Confused as to why the unity was a problem, he began attending local EDM shows and was welcomed with an incomparable level of acceptance. He began to understand that there is a wonderful world of people out there, who do not judge, who are not concerned with the differences in genres, and who only want to dance and have fun. “This is who I want to make music for.” He shed the tough, drug dealing, hard headed image he had built for himself after years of work in the hip hop world, and became Dynamix, knowing he had finally found his place. A place where he can act like himself, not have to be something else to sell records, and make damn good music for people that want to dance. ♥
